Remote hood cable?

I was tinkering in my garage and found a hood remote cable w/ T handle and the key to lock it. I know this came off a 79 dentside yrs ago. My question is, has anyone modified one of these to work on a bumpside? This would be an awsome upgrade, to keep your hood from being opened.

It would require a lot of rework. In the bumpsides the release mechanism is in the hood. In the dentsides the release is reversed and in the filler panel near the radiator support.

Man, I thought I was on to something? Sure would be nice, for piece of mind.
