1967 Heater Question WITH PICS

I just traded for a really nice 67 F100 long bed. I've only ever had 1969 trucks, so this one is a little different when the heater is concerned in that it does not have the sliders under the radio to select the heater temp and move from floor to defrost. Instead, my truck has a hand lever on the heater box to select from floor to defrost and off. For the fan, there is a knob on the dash near the steering wheel that says Off, High and Low, and then on the bottom part states "Pull for heat" When I pull the knob I can hear it operate another door under the dash on the box (separate from the hand lever) and the air really gets hot coming from the box (it was already hot, but I believe my box needs rebuilt because when I shut it off, air still pours out. I know the door is working because I can feel/hear it when I shut it off).

Under the hood, on the heater hose where there is normally a cable operated valve on the heater hose inlet, there is a valve that you can close by hand but no cable going to it (obviously a PO hack).

Is there supposed to be a cable that runs from the pull knob to the valve on the heater hose as well as the box under the dash? As I stated the knob operates the box but not the valve. Any pics showing all this is greatly appreciated.

Uh...your controls are missing? Top insert photo from the tech article http://www.fordification.com/tech/67-72ID_01.htm almost to the bottom of the page. Here's the exploded view. It shows both versions. http://www.fordification.com/tech/image ... heater.jpg Never had a '67 so not sure but I think it was a push-pull 2spd fan switch, hot/cold cable that went to the valve on the hose and a cable that operated the fresh air/heat/defrost blend doors in the heater case.

You have the basic heater. Look at the " No Heater Controls" thread. If I were not on mobilization, I would check my 67 shop manual for you.

Maybe somebody on the forum has a schematic.

This is exactly what I needed from this thread:"Owner's manual, Page 38:

WATER TEMPERATURE: The economy heater water temperature is regualted by adjustment of the hot water intake valve under the hood. It is usually set fully open in the winter and fully closed in the summer.
TO HEAT: Pull out on the heater blower switch knob to open the fresh air intake. There is no advantage in intermediate postions.
DEFROSTING: The economy heater defroster control is a crank-type lever located on the heater-duct, under the instrument panel. Move the lever to direct the air flow.
FAN OR BLOWER: The three-position switch on the instrument panel labeled "HEAT" operates an electric blower located in the heater passage. With this swith in the center position, the blower is off. By turning the knob clockwise, two speeds are available."

Seems I need to buy an owners manual for the 67. I thought I knew everything about the 67-69 trucks, but I've learned something new!
