Bleeding of automatic transmission necessary?

Hi guys,

I want to change the fluid of my tranny including empty out the converter and sealing up a leaking transmission cooling line on the radiator. Do I have to "bleed" the transmission after that, especially when I have disconnected one transmission cooler line for some time to seal it up? Or just let it idle, shift trough all gears and P and N and that's it? Does a C6 bleed itself by operating?

No bleeding necessary, it "self bleeds" by purging any air into the trans pan which is open to atmospheric pressure.

As noted above, no bleeding is necessary. The reason, as implied above, is that the fluid system is not a closed system like brake systems. Just like the engine, the transmission, transfer case, & rear end are all open systems.
