Front Springs

Post by ddcrim »

I noticed one of my (drivers side) radius rod bushings is about shot. I was wondering if I should go ahead and
order new front springs, since the old ones have to come out for the job. It's a 1974 F250, shows 75000 miles.
The truck sits level, but I heard they do weaken over time. Also, is the radius rod bushing replacement a job
I could do by myself? Thanks for any input.

If the front springs are not sagging, I would not change them, just my opinion. I have found a lot of new parts today, have a shorter life than what was left in the old part.
Changing radius rod bushings is a big job for a beginner, but that builds character! And the improvement will surprise you. I have changed them without removing the spring, using two ratchet straps (big) but be prepared for worn brackets and shafts.
