Stereo Options....Collection of Pictures

Post by KRob »

I am looking for ideas for a regular, normal, nothing crazy, sound system. Since i had some trouble finding lots of pictures i figured i would consolidate the pictures i found on one thread.

If i borrow your pictures i hope you dont mind...I will try to add links to the pictures original locations for some authenticity.

One thing to remember about mounting any speakers in the doors, if you use the foam baffles, the speakers will be more protected from moisture, and the sound is much "cleaner". http://www.crutchfield.com/p_237XT65/XT ... ml?tp=2809

Okay here is the USA stereo from Custom Auto.
Image
It is very functional, looks great and sounds amazing! The AUX cord comes out through the glove box. It gets compliments all the time.
Here is the passenger side speaker under the dash on a custom mount, you cant see it at all from the seat.
Image
Here is the drivers side under the dash, also on a custom mount, it barley fit, but it did :-) It is also completely out of sight.
Image
Here are the two 6X9's behind the seat, they are in custom boxes, and restricted the seat sliding back by about an inch or two.
Image
Here it is with the seat back. It looks good and sounds great, it will completely cover the engine and road noise.
Image
This is the best part, the doors were not touched, neither was the dash, but it has totally modern sound with great base and AUX input.
Image

here is what I did with my headliner. They are 6.5s and fit pretty good. I have 6x9s in my door panels also. I thought about the kicker panel but decided the door panels would be easier to fix if I ever changed my mind. All together it sounds really good.

this is where I put my speakers..

"BiggDogg"Here's what I recently did:
I picked up the JVC stereo at Walmart for $97- it has 200 watts of power, a detachable faceplate, direct plug in for ipod, and a remote. Add to it two Sony 5.25" 4-way speakers, rated for 160 watts-cost $39. So with tax and the metra Volvo kit, about $165-$170. The sound quality absolutely knocked my socks off.

The headliner is made of pegboard. It wasn't flexible enough to make the bends, so the two ends of the headliner above the doors are plastic lenses for fluorescent lights. Came out better than I expected. I probably would of done it in black if it weren't for the lens covers. Cost about $25 for materials. All in all I'm pretty satisfied with it. Its nice to have a radio and speakers too.

I also found this one that will help with wiring http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... =8&t=64494

You're welcome!
For speakers, I used the Highliner from LMC. I have been very pleased with it, and I think the speakers that came with it are just fine for my tastes.

Thanks Gents.

Flyboy thanks for the info....I think your due a post on Frodo.

I am not too keen on the highliner, originally i liked it but i don't know now. I am going to pull my liner first and see what is a left and see if it is something i can make a good looking liner for.

Been doing 60+ hours a week at work. Just haven't had time to really do anything to him. I wanted to get the rear brakes redone this year. Didn't happen. :(

Here is how I did mine. It is not my idea but it worked well. I sprayed the box with bed liner and coated where it is at the tank with foam camper topper tape. I attached it to the factory tank brackets with L brackets off the box.
