Anyone know the secret to getting the dash bezel off when replacing the cigarette lighter with a new one? Don't think it threads off and it seems a little pot metally to pry off.
Thank you

misunderstood the question. The knob screws off the element not sure how to get the bezel off the element. Looking at mine right now it looks like there are three metal tabs under the knob. if you bend the tabs up it will probably come all apart.

Re: Cigarette Lighter Disassembly
I looked at those tabs and they seemed a little weak, was concerned that they would break, but I'll give it a try. I don't see any other way, google resulted in nothing, and fordification is my remaining hope!69Ford wrote:misunderstood the question. thought there was a post and nut that pinched it to the dash from behind Look down in the right hand corner at 15055 the post is what the wire attaches to http://www.fordification.com/tech/image ... system.jpg
I've had enough and I'm not alone

That I believe is the wiring nut on the back of the housing or the accessory light wiring that came with the trucks sometimes. Don't believe it has anything to do with the bezel. Thank you for looking into it!

Re: Cigarette Lighter Disassembly
So you have to pry firmly but gently to get the old element out, I had to use a utility knife blade to do so. The replacement element isn't exactly like the original, so after trying to pry the little tabs back with a set of pliers, of course with out destroying the chrome finish, I gave up on that endeavor and had to drive the element under the tabs with an identical set of flat tip screwdrivers. I'm sure that there must be a better way than this but it is done!
